A Schooner Ashore.

NARROW ESCAPE OF THE CREW. (Per Press Association.) GisnoitNE, May 22. The schooner Sprcy, from Mercury Bay, with timber on board, was driven ashore- on the Gisborne beach. The rescue of the crew was exciting. A man named Lowndcs swam through the surf with a line to the vessel, over which the seas wore sweeping. The crew attempted to laud in a boat, which capsized, and the cook was nearly drowned, being rescued with difficult}' and brought ashore insensible.
