Rise in the Price of Wheat.
O (Per Press Association.) .London, May 20. The English wheat market shows a general advance of 6d. The American and Continental markets are also advancing with increased firmness. For off-coast cargoes of new Victorian wheat sellers ask 255. Mr Beer-Bohm's circular attributes the firmness in wheat to the belief that the year's wheat crop will be 15,000,000 quarters below last year's. Christciiukch, May 20. During the last few days the wheat market shows a marked improvement. On Saturday 1000 bushels of mixed wheat sold at a trifle over 8s Id at Lyttelten, and to-daj' the same firm sold 21,000 bushels at prices varying from 3s to 3s id f.o.b. at Lyttelton. Duxedin, May 20. There is a good deal of excitement among dealers in wheat, the price of which has rapidly advanced. At auction to-day, one firm sold a line of red straw from Wairuna at 3s 6d per bushel. Another firm report the sale of Tuscan at 3s 4|d ; velvet, 3s 3kl : medium velvet, 3s to 3s Id.
