(Per Press Association.) London, May 17. Mr Lowther has withdrawn his motion to impose duty on imported hops. In reply to a question Mr S. Buxton, said Mr J. Thurston's dispatches expressed the opinion that the labour traffic was depopulating some islands. Lord Ripqn said he intended to confer with Sir J. Thuraton on the subject. Owing to the recent defeats in byeelections many Liberals are advising the Government to submit a resolution respecting the Lords, and then dissolve.
