The Stock Market.
D. Crewe report **— At the fortnightly horse sale at Pahiatua on the 4th the attendance of the public was large, and a large entry of horses came forward. I succeeded in quitting most of the entries before the close of the sale at the following prices : — 4-yr-old light draughts, Ll4 10s to Ll6 ; good harness horses, L 9 to Ll3 IOs ; hacks. L 4 10s to L 7; old crooks Ll to Ll 10s. On Tuesday, May 7th, at my usnal fortnightly stock sale at Pahiatua, the entrance of stock was large, but biddiug throughout was Black especially for weaners. Good classes of dairy cattie realised good prices at previous rates. Some of the lines yarded were turned out unsold, not reaching the owners' reserves. The following prices were realised— Fat cows, L 4 5s to L 4 7s 6d ; light weights, L 3 18s to L 4 2s 6d ; store cows, L 2 as ; yearling steers, 355 ; strong weaners, 27s ; calves, lis ,* dairy heiters, near calving, L 4 10a ; do., L 3 20 6d |to L 3 17s ; good dairy cows, in full profit, Lo ss ; do., in milk, L 4. Sheep — Empty ewes, ds 6d. On Saturday, tha llth, I held my weekly produoe and miscellaneous sale. Potatoes, £2 17s 6d to L 3 IOs ; onions, firmer, at Id per lb. I have placed a line of 2J-year-old steers privately, and have enquiries for good dairy cows, springing to calve or in full profit.
