Manchester Rifles.

A meeting of the committee of the Manchester Rifles was held at the Empire Hotel on Friday evening. Present— Lieut. Bray (chair), Lieut. Halcombe, Sergts. Petherick and Aitken, Vols. Saywell, Evans, Scott, and the secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A supply of Snider ammunition having arrived, in was decided that the final competition for the Snider medal take place on Wednesday morning next, the competition to count whatever number of competitors be present. It was decided that a Martini handicap sweepstake be fired on May 24th, j the amount of sweepstake to be divided into five prizes and given in addition to several prizes already kindly offered by tradesmen. Entries to be made on the ranges and handicappers appointed by the competitors. Ranges and other arrangements to be decided £* on the range. The meeting then adjourned.
