(Per Press Association) Chkistchukch, May 10. The shop of G. Percy, grocer, Colombo street, was broken into last night and tobacco to the value of £32 stolen. Two excellent samples of wheat, grown at Cheviot, were shown in town to-day. They were of pearl and Tuscan varieties and represent the product of 100 acres, cultivated by Stevenson Bros. They ware grown after only ploughing, and averaged 89 busheis per acre. This is considered by experts a splendid result. At a meeting of the Progressive Liberal Association, a sub-committee was appointed to consider the unemployed question. A resolution was passed, " Tnat this Association is of the opinion that the system of granting pensions to Judges of the Supreme Court is wrong in principle and would urge upon i;the Government to introduce legislation at an early date abolishing the practice." Auckland, May 11. Donald Dinnie, the well known athlete, was prosecuted under the Child Protection Act at "Wbangarei for allowing his daughter under ten to take part in a performance at which prices of adinissian were charged. He was fined £5 or 14 days' imprisonment
