APRIL WEATHER, 1895.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAtt. Sir, — The rainfall for the past month, was 639 inches against 1-67 inches for April, 1894, and exceeding by 240 inches the rainfall for the month of April during the past twelve years. Rain was registered on 11 days during the month, the heaviest fall being 3 44 inches registered on the 15th, .more by I*l4 inches than I have ever registered in Feilding for I day of 24 hours. The flood which we have just experienced resulted from a rainfall of 547 inches, registered oa the 13th, 14th, 15th, arid 16tti, 6£ the month. The flood of May last year resulted from a rainfall of 4*83 inches registered oa the 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th of the month, and the disastrous flood of October, 1887, resulted from a rainfall of 4*70 inches registered on the 10th, 11th, and 12th, of the month. There were three frosty nights, viz , that of the 3rd of the montn, when the mercury fell to 29 degrees and , those of the 17th and 29th, when':it v% reached the freezing point of 32 deorees. The mean temperature at 9.30 ; a.m. was 59*23 degrees. The maximum beat was 59 degrees on the. 9th,. and the minimum cold 29 degrees on the 3rd. . . .■ ■ "r^^'.' ; I am, etc., Saml. Goodbbhbre.
