Football Notes. NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, April 27. The New Zealand Football Association has a credit balance eu the year of £10. The annual meeting was adjourned to Friday. Mr A. Hei-der- ' son was appointed a delegate to act in co-operatien with the other bodies seeking- to obtain legal status for the Amateur Sporting Association. N.Z. RUGBY UNION. At the annual meeting of the New, Zealand Rugby Union eleven Union. were represented. Mr Ronaldson (Wellington) thought the Rangitikei Union should become, a branch of either Wanganui or Manawatu, and Mr Bate (Wellington) said he would like to see one powerful union taken in Horowhenua, Manawatu, and Wanganui, with local competition at each centre, but showing a united front to all outsiders. > ■-. PIRATES v. PALMERSTON. The first Cup match of the season, played between the Palmerston I and Pirates Football Clubs, took place at Palmerston on Saturday and resulted in a victory for the latter by 10 points to nil. F. Newth and Lyon scored a try each and Newth kicked a goal from a mark obtained, by Smith. The game was described by th& Standard as a poor display of football. JUNIOR FIXTURES. The following fixtures for the first round of the junior cup were drawn on Saturday night : — FIRST ROUND. May Ist. — Palmerston v. Pirates, at Palmerston ; Half-Holday v. Red Stars, at Feilding; Feilding v. Awahuri, at Awahuri. May Sth. — Palmerston v. Red Stars, at Palmerston ,* Half -Holiday v. Awahuri, at Awahuri ; Feilding v. Pirates, at Fedding. May 15th. — Palmerston v. Awahuri, at Awahuri ; Red Stars v. Pirates, at Feilding ; Half -Holiday v. Feiiding, at Palmerston. May 29fch.~ Palmerston v. Feilding, at Palmerston ; Pirates v. Half-Holiday,* at Palmerston ; Red Stars v. Awahuri, at Feilding. Jims sth.— Palmerston v. Half .Holiday, at Palmerston ; Red Stars v. Feilding, at Feilding. The first Junior Cup fixtures of the season will be played on Wednesday next. The Half-holiday (Palmerston) and Bed Stars play at Feilding, the following team representing the latter. Club;— Fullback, J. Mingins ; three-quarters, A. H. Way, J,., Smith, A. Foster; halves, W. Smith, D. Hoppy ; forwards, Briricfcman icaptain), Evans, Jos. Smith, Dempsey, Macmillan, Dowdier Cameron, Sherlock, and* Parkes ; emergencies, J. Robinson, I. Macfarlaue, E. 'Bray. - The above players are requested to be on the ground *t 2*30.
