Before the Commission, representatives of friendly societies asked that such societies should be relieved from stamp duty on drafts, orders, and cheques; t also, that no duty be placed on imported a medals used by friendly societies. John r Earl suggested that instead of the pre- ; sent duty on so much.per lb on tea, an j 1 ad valorem duty be fixed, and that tea ' vendors be licensed. The Commissioners , < cannot leave for the Thames until Mon. c day 'afternoon." -
