Dr Robertson reports that after 3rd March the garrison regarded the position as hopeless, as it was believed that the Moslems had united in a religious war. The soldiers attached to Colonel Kelly's column are to receive two months extra pay. Later. Colonel Gateacre experienced enormous difficulties in making the road over the lofty Lowari Pass. London, April 28. The Queen has sent a message to the Viceroy of India conveying her thanks for the gallant services of tbe soldiers in relieving Cbitral, also expressing sorrow with the families of those killed, and her solicitude witb the wounded. It is understood tbat Colonel Kelly will be created a K.C.B,
