Insurance Bates in Wellington.
[Per Press Association!. Wellington, April 24. There is a revolt against the Insurance Companies in Wellington, which found vent in a public meeting tonnight, at which tho grievances ot insurers was ventilated. The meeting was convened principally at the instance of Mr H. Wright, who has been active in bis efforts to bring about united action, and there was a large attendance. It was decided to form a Fire Insurance Protection Society having for its objects the reduction of fire insurance rates, the abolition of oppressive and unjust claims in insurance policies, prompt settlement of claims, and gener* all/ to guard the interests of insurers in their relations with underwriters, and the provision of a recognised body whioh shall be authorised to deal with insurance companies. A committee of nine was foriDid to tfraw up rules. It waa stated by one speaker that the average premiums paid in Wellington amounted to .£BO,OOO per annum while fire losses only averaged £7000.
