The London Wool Market.
We are indebted to Mr Matheson for the following report, from the Bank's London agent, dated March 15th: — The second series of Colonial wool sales for this year opened on the 7th instant with a net available quantity of about 273,000 bales (including about 50,000 bales old stuff held over from last series) ; of the total, New Zealand has about 64,700 bales, 45,000 of this being fresh arrivals since last sales closed. The attendance of buyers from all parts at the opening was large, and compgtition on the first day was marked by a confident tone, particularly on the part of the Fronch trade, and both attendance and competition are maintained. Compared with the closing rates of last series prices rule for medium to inferior merinos 7-S- to 10 per cent, higher. Superior scoureds about par. Crossbreds of lower grades met with more support, and where strong and of good length rule quite 5 and 7£ per cent higher. Medium and fine descriptions are also now quoted 5 per cent dearer. As at present arranged the eeriea will close on
