APITI.
A meeting of the householders of Apiti took place on Monday, the 22nd inst., in the eehoolroo^i, for the purpose of elect- j ing a school committee. Mr Cmntnerfield was voted to the chair and read the balance-sheet of the past year, which showed a surplus of about £3, exclusive of tbe Government capitation, which ha 9 not yet come to hand. The following were nominated for the committee : — Messrs W. Watson, D. S. Prince, H. Csborne, G. E. Prince, A. Cartwright, E. F. Eagar, J. Gould, Cuoiinertield., C, Y. Dally, J. Bncknian, and J. Rae, and the ballot resulted as fellows '—11. Oaborne 16, Cartwrifiiht and Ciunmerfield 13, D. S. and G. E. Prince 12, Watson 11, Eagar 9, Gould anil Kea 8, Buckman 4, Dally o. The first seven gentlemen were declared elected. Mr Cutuuaerfield was elected chairman. (Per Press Association). Auckland, April 23. Pokeno East, Tainalu, and Mount Albert elected some lady representatives on the school committees.
