A report having been circulated to the effect that loans to persons made by the Department under the Government Advances to Settlers Act, could only be repaid l>y the instalments arranged for extending over a period of tliirty-pix years, we are authorised to state tAat such report is absolutely without foundation, and the whole balance of the principal owing may be repaid with any oithe prescribed half-yearly instalments.
