Manawatu and West Coast A. and F. Association.
The annual meeting of members was held at the Occidental sample rooms on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance, and in the absence of the President (Mr J, R. Foster-Pratt), Mr L. Wallis, was voted to the chair. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been .£1309 8s 3d, and the expenditure Is (including Bank overdraft of £229 os lid), leaving a debit balance at the Bank of £196 12s 9d. The sum of of .£ll3 had been spent in improvements on the show ground during the year. The following gentlemen were then declared elected for the positions mentioned there being no opposition to their candid" ature : — President, Mr L. Wallis. VicePresidenta, Messrs F. Pirani, M.H.R., W. Park, J. W. Marshall and A. McHardj. Treasurer, Mr J. G. Scott. For the posts of Com mitt eemen there were 50 nominations, and a ballot for the election of 36 resulted as follows : — G. Wheeler, 69 ; C. Dunk, 68 : J. Saxon, 68 ; H. Gillies, 67 ; F. S- Mcßae, 66 ; R. Stevens, 66 ; F. Y. Letbbridge. 64 ; T. Knight, 64 ; C. M. Pascal, 63 ; H. Bryant, 62 ; D. P. Buchanan, 61 ; D. Fraser 61 ; S. R. Lancaster, 58 : W. P. Kendell, 58 ; J. Davidson, J. R. McLennan, F. P. Snow, A- W. Skerman. Mr G. J. Scott was elected auditor, Mr Cohen said seeing that the raanflgeinent of the local Jockey Club was somewhat similar to that of the Association, some understanding might be arrived at whereby, if possible, the race meetin" should be held during the Show week and. A farmers' dinner or something ot the sort might be instituted at the same time. Mr D. Buick seconded the motion which I was carried. Mr A. E. Russell moved — "That this Association discontinues holding ranj fairs
under its auspices or management." Mr J. Gt. "Wilson Beconded the motion, which was carried. The Chairman drew attention to the handsome cup presented to the Association by Messrs Barraud and Abraham for Competition. , The meeting then adjourned. — btand-
