Laying a New Cable.
(Per x J ress Association.) Welli;*gton, Ibis Day. The Terranora is lying in Worser'a Bay, waiting a favourable opportunity to commence operations on the new cable which is to be laid across the Straits from Oterougo Bay near Cape Terawhiti, to White's Bay. By this route a much better bottom will be obtained, and the rocky bottom in the vicinity of Lyell's Bay, the outlet of the present cable, will be avoided. The new cable is to be a rive core one, and when it is laid interruptions of telegraphic communication between the two Islands will be almost an impossibility.
