BOROUGH AFFAIRS.
Thk Wairarapa Daily Times eleven years ago gavo the Masterton Bor ough Council a bit of advice to pre vent the encroachments of the Wai poua river. Our contemporary piously remarks there- anent -.—The remedy was so simple, so obvious, and so in. expensive, that one might haye ex pected even a Masterson Borough - Council to adopt it. But it did not— it is a way it has — a way it always had ! When a thing requires doing it does not do it ; and when a thing ought not to be done, it does it. StiL the ratepayers are as contented as tb.t trout in the Masterton fish ponds, anc as long as this is the case we musi j continue to hope for much and expeci ) little frDm the municipal fathers.' ■ This will come home even to the Feildi ing people, and tonch a sympathetic > chord in their minds.
