The racehorse Paris, from Sydney, has arrived in good condition. The live cattle ex steamer Port Chalmers from Australia landed at Deptford, after an unusually good passage. A few of the beasts had slightly wasted, while many had improved in condition. Several had horned one another. April 19. The bullocks by the Celtic King and Port Chalmers will be sold at Deptford on Monday. The Chairman of Cashman's Brilliant Reward Mine, of Coolgardie, stated the manager advised that the mine should be abandoned as it was hopeless to expect I any return from it. The meeting decided to negotiate for acquiring Bay ley's South Extended mine. Sir H. Loch, being desirous of rest, is not willing to accept a Colonial GovernI orsbip at present, though the Colonial j Office is pressing him to change his mind. Earl Kimberley has wired to Nicaragua declining that a Comznission be set up to enquire into the trouble there, and insisting on the British ultimatum being agreed to. Paris, April 18. The alleged anarchist plots against President Faure are seini-officially denied. New York, April 18. The revolt in Cuba is spreading. Shanghai, April 19. It is reported here that China has secured an alliance with Russia owing to promises with regard to the Pamirs, and China granting Russia a portion of Manchuria, with a view to quicken the Siberian railway route. Ottawa, April 19. The Earl of Aberdeen, at the opening of the Dominion Parliament, said that the passage of the Customs Bill by the Imperial Parliament proved that the British Government favourably entertained the proposals carried at the recent conference in Canada, and was satisfied that there was no need to delay the carrying out of the French, commercial treaty.
