Feilding Fire Brigade.

Members of the Feilding Fire Brigade intend to hold a competition early next month, for which several prizes have already been promised. Following are the conditions for the different events : — Ist, One-Man Engine, Manual (dry).— Man to start 20 yards from front of engine, run to engine, lock fore-carriage, turn over and unlock levers, connect one length of suction hose to engine (strainer previously attached), run oat 50 feet of canvas hose and fix branch, ran back to engine and strike levers on beat blocks ; delivery of hose to be made up and strapped and placed in body of engine, branch to be attached to side of engine, suction to be in side pocket, lids closed, and all caps on. Time, from start to stroke of levers on beat blocks. 2nd, Two-Men Reel and Engine. — Engine to stand as for one-man event ; reel to stand 20 yards from side of engine, two branches and 150 feet of canvas hose to be attached ; men to stand 5 yards to rear of reel ; men to pick up reel and run to engine, attach to engine and run out 100 feet of delivery hose, fix branch; engine to be put in gear with one length of suction hose ; both men to be at engine, and time to be taken from start to stroke of lever on beat block ; coupling of hose on reel to be hand-tight. 3rd, Coupling Practice for One Man. — Man to run 100 feet to union, couple to union 100 ft length of hose two 50ft lengths, run 50ft from union, couple on two branches, and return to starting point ; cap to be on union, hose to be all laid out, and branches at end of 50fts. Time to be taken from start to ringing of bell. 4th, Two-Men Engine (dry).— Men to start 20 yards from engine at signal given, run to engine, lock fore-carriage, tarn over, clip, and unlock levers, connect two lengths of suction hose to engine, connect to engine and run out two 50ft lengths of canvas hose and fix branch ; delivery hose to be made up in two Coils, strapped, and placed in body ! of engine, branch to be attached to head of engine, suction hose to be in side pockets (one on each side of engine), lids closed, and all caps on ; when work is done- men to hold arms over heads till dismissed by judges. Time, from start till last man rings bell. sth, Three - Men Heel and Engine (dry). — Beel to stand 50 yards from Engine ; men to. stand 10 yards in rear of engine ; engine to stand same as for oneman event ; men to run to reel, run to engine, connect and run out lOOf fc wet canvas hose, break coupling, connect union, run out 50ft hose (dry), break coupling, return with reel to union; run out second 50ft length (dry), connect to union and fix branches ; one branchman to ascend ladder 15 feet, ladder lying on ground ; engine to be put in gear with two lengths suction hose. Time to be taken from start till last man rings bell. All events are to be run in uniform under the rules of the U.F.B.A.
