Proposed Union of the Churches
(Per Press Association.) LiO.vdon, April 7. Lord Halifax and Cardinal Vaughan have left on a visit to Rome, and it is supposed their mission is to promote the union of the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church. The Arch-Bishop of Canterbury, iv a strongly worded letter, declares that such a union is impossible. The Pope will issne an appeal at Easter urging the protestants of England to favor the Union with the Roman Catholic church.
