The Minister of Labor has telegraphed to the Early Closing Association that the Law Officer's opinion is adverse to the Mayor's notice inviting shopkeepers to keep Wednesday as the half-holiday, and has advised them that if shopkeepers remain open on Saturday they will be acting contrary to the law. The Association distributed 5000 copies of the Minister's telegram, and urged the people not to shop to-morrow at shops open after 1 o'clock.
