The Prohibition League.

(Per Press Association). Chbxstchukch, April 4. At a meeting of the Canterbury DiTisional Prohibition League to-day a platform was adopted. The Rev. L. M. Isitt was elected president. It was resolved to recommend the repeal of clauses of the Licensing Act which (1) «Aye Government power to remove a licensing committee at pleasure ; (2) bestowed upon the publicans the right to two years renewal of his license ; (3) conferred upon the chairman and two members of committee power to grant wholesale licenses; (4) demanded a thxee-nfths majority iox no licenses. The following amendments were declared desirable ; (1) abolition of wholesale licenses in no license districts ; (2) increase in licensed districts of minimum quantity to be sold by wholesale licenses to ten gallons, snch sale to be of one kind of liquor only ,- (3) prohibition of canvassing for orders in no licenses districts, and attachment of penalties for breaches of the clause ; (4) abolition of bottle New Zealand wine, accommodation, conditional railway re. freshment room, and packet licenses ; (5) clubs to be brought under the local option vote ; (6) that no license fees be charged and that the payment of all committee elections and licensing polls be made from the public funds.
