Cheap Money for Farmers.
I (pee press association) Sydney, This Day. In the Legislative Assembly the Premier stated the sum advanced to the Government by the Savings Bank was £5, 159,000, which was lent by the Government on mortgage. Of this £4,000,000 had been advanced to farmers and producers on the security of country lands. With regard to the question of extending the operations of the Savings Bank, by making advances to farmers, he said the matter formed parfc of a very difficult problem which he had been considering.
