Fighting at Madagascar.

(Per Press Association.) Paris, March 31. Colonel Duchesne, commander of French troops in Madagascar, has warned the soldiers that the natives must be treated with clemency. News has been received of collisions in tbe Straits of Messina, between the Alvah, an English steamer, and the Birklorn, chartered by the French Government to convey troops and river gunboats to Madagascar. The Alvah was sunk, but all on board were saved. The transport, though seriously damaged, managed to reach Messina.
