The Shooting Season.
The shooting season for native and I imported game for the Feilding* district j (being a branch of the Wellington i Acclimatisation Society) opens on the | let of May next, and not, as many people suppose, on April Ist. Notice is given to this effect by Mr H. L. Sherwill, secretary of Feilding branch . of the Society. Sportsmen should re- | member tbis. The season for the Palmerston district, which is also a branch of the Wellington Society, I opens on May Ist. The Wellington ! district extends from Wellington to | the southern boundary of the Bangitikei liver, and is bounded to tbe east 1 by tbe Ruahine ranges in this portion of tho district. Persons taking out licenses from any of the branches of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society may shoot game in any portion of the district, but persons taking out [ licenses in any of the adjoining distiicts must get their licenses endorsed by the Secretary of fhe local branch of the Society in whose c'listtrict they wish to shoot, that is, if a person who has taken out a license in the Rangitikei district wishes to shoot in the country round Feilding, he must get Mr Sherwill to endorse his license. The shooting season in the Rangitikei district opens on Apiil lst for native game, aud May lst for imported game.
