ENGLISHMEN v. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION) Adelaide, March 29. The match was resumed to-day in fine weather. Hill and Walter Giffen, the two uot- out men, continued their aggressive pay, and at the luncheon adjournment the partnership was still intact with the score standing at 320. Shortly after resuming, however, Giffen fell to Lockwood, having played an admirable inniags for 81. F. Jarvis ably assisted Hill in making things merry, and bad piled on 31 before his stumps were shattered by Richardson. Jones, tbe last man in, was soon disposed of for 1, the innings closing for tbo fine score of 397. Young Hill, who carried out his bat for 150, played one of the finest innings ever seen on the ground, every available change of bowling being tried without effect. The youngster received a great ovation on returning to the pavilion. The Englishmen opened well, and when the stumps were drawn had one wicket down for 82. Brockwell fell l.b.w to Giffan for 35, Ward (31) and Brown (14) being not out. London. March 29. Surrey and Lancashire Counties have promised to facilitate Lord Sheffield's efforts to form a team to meet Sioddart's eleven on their return from Australia.
