Mr R. Crabbe's temperance lecture in the Assembly Rooms last evening was again largely attended. A cable message from Hobavt says that a discovery of diamonds has been made in DoDaldson's hydraulic claim. At yesterday's Cabinet meeting about L 17.000 were allocated for roads, bridges and public works generally in various parts of the Colony. We have been requested to mention that the Good Templars will moot m the Lodge Room at 7 p.m. to-night, when all are requested to attend. The Salvation Army tea and meeting last evening were very successful, being well atteuded. Adjutant Foster, Ensign Guunion, and other officers, addressed the meeting, The following team will represent the Feilding Polo Club iv a match with the Oroua Dowu.s Club, on the latter's ground, on Saturday next;— Straehan, Cooper, Gieseu, and Pickering. Since the beginning of the jear no less than 470 factories have been registered in Auckland (says an exchange), the largest figure, it is believed, of any town in the Colony. The Dunstan Times reports that a Chinaman, cradling at Doctor's Point bslow Alexandra, struck a rich parch in a crevice of a rock, and for three days' work obtained the handsome return of lOOozs. Notice is given by the Clerk to the Assessment Court that the sitting of the said Court, advertised to be held at the Cheltenham Schoolhouse, to hear objections to the Kiwitea County valuation roll, on March 29th, will stand adjourned to Tuesday, 9th April, at 10 a.m. The half-yearly general meeting of shareholders iii the Cheltenham Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, will be held in the Cheltenham Schoolroom tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. The business will be to receive the report and balance-sheet, to elect officers, etc. We have to acknowledge receipt of a copy of "A New Labor Bill," to be introduced next session. The measure was prepared by the Mahatnia of the J Evening Post and is very comprehensive, i It is quite equal to " The Washers' and Manglers' Bill," which everybody now regrets was not made law. Tenders are invited for the supply of rations, forage, etc., for the use of troops at Feilding during the Easter Encampment. Specifications and all particulars can ha obtained on application to Captain Kirtoii. Tenders close at the Defence Office, Wellington, at noon of Saturday, the 30th instant. The lowest estimate of the principal articles of food for consumption at the Easter Encampment is as follows: — Bread, 40001bs ; meat, BOOOlbs ; milk, 240 gallons; butter. 6QQlbs; potatoes, 2 tons ; tea, Q2olbs 5 coffee, 1251b5 ; sugar, 5001bs ; with oats, chaff, and hay, in large quantities for the cavalry. Each may he tendered lor separately. Lovers of wrestling will bo glad to learn that another match is likely to eventuate between Messrs Halcombe &ud Sutherland. In another column Mr Sutherland accepts Mr Halcoinbe's offer to wrestle for. the ■ light-weight championship of New Zealand, to tako place at the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, April 18, The styles are to be the Gneco-Roman and|Catch-as-catch-can. Mr Sutherland also wishes that a stake of £20 should be added to the match. There was a fair attendance at the meeting of the Bowling Club in Mr Giesen's oßmo last evening. Affcer discussing the Finance Committee's report with reference to the best means of raising sufficient uio^ey to put the green in order, it was decided to adjourn the ' meeting to Monday evening next, when it is hoped all subscriptions will be paid as the Ground Committee are anxious to commence work on the green at once. As the question of raising funds will be further discussed and decided on at the next meeting it is desirable that all members siiould be present.
