Polo Tournament.
O MAN AW ATI' WINS THE CUP. Per Press Association.) CußisxcnuiicH, March 22. The Savillc Cup Tournament concluded to-day in miserable weather, and when the final round of the contest was finished the ground was a perfect quagmire and it was deemed inadvisable play the match arranged between Auckland and Warvcngate. As anticipated Manawatu defeated Raugitikei No. 2 very easily and won the tournament. At the conclusion of the game Mr G. A. M. Buckley, Pice-President of the Association, presented the cup to Mr A. S. Baker, captain of the winning team. The teams were : — Manawafcu — A. Williams, A. S. Baker, F. P. Snow, W T . B. Lloyd. Rftugitikci, No. 2-tl. A. Wilson, E. Keillor, C. Dakymple, W. A. Keiller. In the first spell, Baker, Lloyd, and Snow scored for Manawatu, the former twice. E. Keiller in the third spell scored Rangitikei's only goal. This was, however, an expiring effort, and, although the Raugitikei men played the game out to the bitter end in a manner which excited the admiration of the spectators, they were clearly no match for their opponents, who scored three more goals, two by the agency of Lloyd and one by Baker, aud the game ended in a victory for Mauawatu by ten goals to one. At a meeting of the Polo Association it was resolved that the tournament of 1896 should be held at Palmerston N., provided the ground offered met with the approval of the managing committee. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensiling year -.—Vice-president, Q. A. M. Buckley; honorary secretary and treasure*.', A. E... G-. Rhodes ; managing committee, E. D. O'Rorke, R. S. Abraham, J. G. W r ilson, R. Heaten, S. Rhodes, and A. E. G. Rhodes.
