Polo Tournament.

MANAWATU DEFEATS RANGITIKEI. Per Press Association.) Christchurch, March 21. The polo Saville Cup tournament was continued to-day. The weather was overcast and bitterly cold, and the attendance not large. The matches were — Manawatu v. Hangitikei No. 1, and Ash burton v Rangitikei No. 2. Tbe Manairatu immediately becamo aggressive and Raugitikei repeatedly forced in the first ten minutes, and towards the end of the spell Baker scored. Immediately afterwards a capital rush by Sanderson and Wilson ended in Bell scoring for Kangitikei. A few minutea after the resumption of play Bell again scored, but Parker speedily equalised matters by hitting tho second goal for Manawatu. The third spell ended without any scores having been made under the regulations. The game was therefore continued, and five minutes after tho commencement of the extra spell j Lloyd took the ball the whole length i of the ground to just iv front of the Kaugitikei goal. Here he lost it, but Baker was just behind and, driving the ball between posts, the game ended — Manawatu 3 goals, Rangi tikei 2. In the second game TJangitikei had all the best of the play for the first ten minutes, and Ashburton wag forced repeatedly. Towards the end of the first spell, W, A. Keiler scored for the Northern team. At the commencement of the second spell W. A. Keiller again scored, but shortly afterwards Buckley hit a goal for Ashburton. Immediately after the start of the third spell Dalryinple and E. KoiHer scored for jtiangicikei. Shortly afterwards Wilson increased the score, and E. Keiller followed his example, Wilson scoring again. The game ended — Rangitikei 4 goals, Ashburton 1. Following were the teams engaged to-day : — Rangitikei Ist— A. H. Bell, W. G. Riddifurd, J. G. Wilson, E. F. Blurulell. Manawatu —A. Williams, A. S. Baker, F. P. Snow, 11. 13. L'oyd. As-hburton — Claridge, Buckley, Roberts, Saunders. Rangitikei 2nd— G, S. Wilson, E. Keiller, K. Dalrymple, W. A. Keiller. The tournament will conclude today, when Manawatu meets Rangitikei No. 2.
