The fuller Court dealt with the appeal case of Mrs Mattingley, one of the 67 married teachers dispensed with under the retrenchment scheme, who brought the case as a test against the Government for "wrongful dismissal. Mr Justice A'Beckett held that her services had been legally dispensed with, but she was entitled to her salary by way of damages in addition to the £10 paid into Court, in satisfaction of all claims. Against this the Crown appealed, and A'Becketts judgment was reversed except in regard to tbe LlO.
