CONCERT AND DANCE.

In the evening a concert was held in Mr Goodwin's hall, which waa crowded. Mr T. Moffatt presided. Miss Harris played overtures on the piano at tho commencement of each part. Mr G. F. Stevens sang 'Holy Friar of Orders Grey ' and ' Anchored,' giving • Calvary ' as an encore to the latter. Miss Moran sang ' Sunshine and Bain ' in the first part, and ' Mona ' in the second, and in response to an encore for the latter gave 1 Over went the Captain.' Mr Ahlers gave ' Annie Laurie.' ' Life's Dream is O'er ' was given as a duet by Miss Stansell and Mr Stansell (eenr ). Miss Laing sang • Afton Waters,' repeating a verse as an encore ; she was also encored for her rendition of ' Coming Through the Eve * a verse being repeated. Mr Stansell (senr.) sang • A Soldier's Life,' and Mr F. Barlow sang ' That is Love ' for which he was encored, *a verse being repeated. Mr Taylor sang • Gallants of England,' and Mr F. Pembeitori '"' The Lowlands,' while Mr Millward gave a comic song. Mr S. Moss recited • Kissing Cup's Eace.' Highland dances were performed by Mr A Pottigrew and Mr W. Whisbaw to

music played on the pipes by Mr Macdonald. The accompaniments were played by Misses Harris' and Stansell and Ifeasrs Bayne and F. Barlow. At the conclusion of the concert the room was cleared and a dance was held, • large number being present, and dancing was kept up till a late honr this morning. The music was supplied by Messrs F. Barlow (flute), W. Barlow (chmonette), and F. Fanthorpe (cornet). Messrs W. Stansell and F. Say well divided the duties of M C.
