Daring Robbery in Feilding.

A. CHINAMAN'S SHOP FORCIBLY ENTERED. Yesterday afternoon, at five o'clock, the Chinaman in charge of Quong Lee's fruit and grocery shop in Manchester street reported to Constable Tnohy that his premises had beeu entered, and money, in notes, gold, and eilyer to the amount of .£l4 13s had been stolen. It appears that the shop had been closed for the usual Wednesday half-holiday at one o'clock, and the Chinaman in charge went away shortly afterwards. He returned at 2.30, when everything was as he had left it, and he went away again immediately. On returning at 4 o'clock, he discovered that the premises had been entered by the back window, and £9 in £1 notea, one sovereign, and £'i 10s in silver had been taken from a box in hia bedroom, while £1 in silver and 3s in coppers was taken from the till in the front; shop. The premises occupied by (juong Lee stand disconnected from other buildings, with high boarded fences around the yard at the back. From indications it is evident the yard was entered through an old stable forming part of the yard- fence, and a back window leading to the kitchen opened. The thief then " went through " the bedroom and till, after which he made his escape by way of a gate on the opposite side of the shop to the stable. Although the theft was made in broad daylight the police have been unable to gain any clue to the perpetrator.
