Onslow Farm Homestead Association.
The Commissioner of Crown Lands attended at the Theatre Ro.yal, Ashnrat, on Friday last to superintend the balloting for the available- sections in this block. There are 12 sections, and 12 members attended or were represented. There are 25 members eligible for balloting, and as no word had been received from them as to whether they intended to go on with their chances or not, the Commissioner had no option but to put all their names into the ballot box, it being agreed that the first 12 names drawn should have the 12 sections available. The names thus drawn out then balloted for the sections, which were allotted in the following order:— E. A. Donnelly, section 16 ; J. M. Millar, section 17 ; B. Knight, section 18 ; J. D. McLaurin and T Grammar, section 19 ; H. C. Madsen, section 20 ; J. H. Bathe, section 21 ; H. King, section 22 ; R. O. French, section 24 ; A. Cameron, section 25 ; F. Bicker - ton, section 26 ; W. Ryan, section 27 ; T. P. James, section 28. All original members of the Association who had not sent notice of retiring will receive the Jease fee of 10s back from the Commissioner. Rent will commence from July Ist next, and improvements will also be dated from that time. The Commissioner would have liked to have given the chance of the sections to those who attended the various committee meetings and who signed a paper at the Colyton meeting on September Ist, 1874, stating that they were willing to take up the sections, the Commissioner having written requiring an assurance that members would take up the sections if surveyed, but as the remaining members had returned their declarations ia proper form there was no power to debar them from balloting.
