Thk members of the Pohangina County Council have done the right thing in supporting the proposal to place that rising district in communication with the rest of the world by means of telephone lines. The cost to those portions of tbo county immediately interested will he so small that it will never be felt, while there exists almost a certainty that the revenue for the first year will more than equal the outlay. The bridge will very coon be erected over the Oroua river at Apiti, which will be another and very considerable help towards the ma terial prosperity of (he district- Tbe eettlere in the Pohangina are evidently the possessors of a strong faith in the policy of self reliance.
