Kiwitea County Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above -was held to-day, there being present — Councillors Reid (chairman), Homer, Morten, Jacob, Jones, Williamson, and Shannon. Correspondence was read as follows : — From H. C. Wilson, junr., Stanway, requesting payment of account for bushfelling. From A. R. Cox, account for bushfelling. From Robt. Marsh, Fowlers, re lease deeds of gravel reserve on Kimbolton road. From District Land and Survey Oflice, Wellington, asking for information re closing of a road in sections 171 and 173, Block IV, Oroua. From the Secretary to the Treasury, informing Council that the loans of .£IOOO for Vinegar Hill bridge and £420 for Cheltenham Cross-road bridge cannot be made until the special rates have been made to provide for payments of interest, &c, on said loans. From Commissioner of Crown Lands, stating that the Land Board approved of the Council's proposals for expending ] the "thirds " and "fourths" accrued to 31st October, with exception of amounts attached. From W. J. Woolford, Sandon Small Farm Block, application to lease Council's reserves 75 and 73. > # From W. A. Sandilands, advising Council re the blocking of a road off Orona street by a building erected by Mr Ross. From District Land and Survey Oflice, to the effect that there was no sum of 1.60 voted last session for the purpose of erecting a bridge over the Pakihikura stream, but there will still be a balance left from the old grant of about LSO, which can be appropriated towards the erection of the bridge, it being within the Village Reserve. From Clerk Rangitikei County Council, urging this Council the necessity of taking action re the Government grant for the Otara bridge in order to prevent it lapsing. . From G. Rainbridge, Fowlers, offering Council site for County Chambers. From F. B. French, Pemberton, requesting payment of bushfelling account. From A. H. Tompkins, Fowlers, drawing attention to piece of road between the hotel and his store. From W. G. Stanton, Fowlers, applyfor lease of piece of land on bank of Oroua, it being a reserve for a bridge site. From Receiver of Land Revenue, stating that L 636 6s 6d, being amount of ordinary hypothecated thirds and fourths, contained in proposals to 31st October, 1894, bad been lodged to the credit of the Council, and also L 566 7s lid being amounts of thirds and fourths accrued to January 31st, 1895. From Thos Lowes and others, Fowlers, requesting Council to a take a fresh poll for the loan for making the Terrace and Branch roads. From Commissioner of Crown Lands, enclosing a form and asking for information re " The Fair Rent Bill." (Left Sitting.)
