Cricket News.
(Per Press Association). London. March 8. The Globe praises Giffen as the G.O.M. of Australtan cricket, and condoles with him in the recent defeat suffered, despite his judicious captaincy and personal skill with the bat and ball.
Punch writes, apropos of the "Great | Trott-insc Match " :— [Albert Trott, in the fourth representative cricket match between Mr Stoddart's Eleven and All Australia, scored two " not out " innings of 38 and 72, and took eight wickets for 43 runs] Giffen's boys were this time, we may say without banter, Eleven too many for stout " Stoddart's Lot." We oft read of matches as " won in a canter," But this one was won, it would seem, by A. Tkott ! Lika Joko (Mr Harry Furniss' new paper) beaks out in this style. The Kangaroo sings to Mr Stoddart : — You didn't expect it, my sonny! Yet, truty, complaiu 3 r ou must not ; For you wanted " a run" for your money, And, complying, I gave you A. Trott.
