Freezing and Boiling-down Results.
The following is an extract from a letter, received by a settler in this district iv reply to an enquiry for information on the subject, from the Secretary of the Longbnrn Freezing Company, and will be of interest to many of our readers : — " YV e have just completed our purchase contract and are not now buying until another is entered into. We advance to growers who ship on their own account on lambs only I.UI per lb. Mutton— Owing to the depressed and unsettled state of the Home market our agents will not advance on same. We have, therefore, been advising clients to ship through their own bank who, no doubt, will advance Id per lb on mutton and l^d per lb on lamb. Fat ewes to boil dowu : — The following is the outcome of a few lines we have put through on owners' account — Ewes, average ' weight 711 b net, 6s ; ewes, average weight 6;">ilb net, 5s 9d ; ewes, average weight "jAb net, 4s 6d ; ewes, average weight 711 b net, 5s 9d ; ewes, average weight 731 b net, 4s 6d ; ewes, average weight 631 b net, 4s 6d ; ewes, average weight 591 b net, os od ; ewes, average weight 541 b net 5s 2d ; ewes, average weight 501 b net, 3s 4d.
