Important Licensing Case.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, March 5. At the quarterly meeting of the Waipa Licensing Committee the transfer of the license for the Travellers' Rest from Ardmore to Frankton Junction was applied for. A memorial was lodged, objecting to the granting of the license. The Rev. Mr Matthew and others appeared personally to object. The license, however, was granted, the chairman being the only dissentient. The license is shifted five miles from the original house, but the number of licenses is not increased. Great interest was taken in the case. Last year an attempt was made to shift the license to another part of the district, but a number of settlers opposed the application successfully.
