CARELESS DRIVING.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — Kindly allow me, through the medium of your columns, to draw attention to a matter that is growing somewhat serious. I, sir, in common with a number of others, am a supplier of milk to a dairy factory. lam also a sheepiarrner, and, in consequence of having my farm stocked with sheep, have to depend on the main road for grazing for my cows. The abuse I refer to is this, — that numbers of people drive cattle on the road without having sufficient hands to look after their stock. The consequence is that the unfortunate milch cows are often driven a considerable distance along the road, and subjected to needless harassing and worrying. Now, sir, cannot we farmers who graze on the road combine and make these drovers responsible for the loss and damage caused by this careless driving '? The driviug and worrying of milch cows is fatal to the milk supply, and, if these cows are not allowed to graze in peace, the owners will have to keep them on their farms, which means a cessation of the milk supply as far as a number of farmers are concerned. I am, etc., Butter Fat. Cheltenham, March 2nd, 1895.
