(Per Press Association.) Napier, March 1. At a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Association this morning, on. the motion of Captain Bus sell, it was decided that it ia absolutely essential for the proper supervision of the stock industry, and ih the interest of consumers of meat, that a regular scientific branch should be added to the Agricul tural Department of the Government, and that to give effect to this opinion' tbe services of an eminent bacteriologist should be obtained from Europe to report on the various diseases in sheep and cattle the origin, nature and prevention of which iB at present unknown. It was also resolved to enlist the co-operation of kindred societies throughout the. Colony in this matter.
