Meeting at Rohangina.

♦ A meeting of ratepayers of the Tamaki ' Riding was held at Mr Fraser's house on '< the 28th inst. to discuss the proposal to borrow a sum of L4OOQ to construct ' some of the roads in that riding. Councillor Fraser proposed the following motion : — " That a poll be taken on the llth of March." After some discussion this was carried, several protesting. An amendment was proposed by Mr J. G, Browne, seconded by Mr F. Phillpotts •' That in the opinion of this meeting thq proposed loau iox the Tamaki Riding was most unfair and needed reconstruction, and that Cr Fraser be instructed to bring iv a new proposal to include that portion of the Pohangina Valley Road, in the Awahou Riding, from the end of the metal road to the boundary of the Tamaki Riding, also to include, some portion of the Opawa Rqad." This crpated a lively argviment, a majority expressing themselves in favor of it in common fairness, but as it meant giving up the loan voted against it. The amendment was lost by five to three.— Standard. *
