In the House of Commons Mr Buxton said the resolution passed at the Canadian Conference that in the event of lay. ing the Pacific cable it should be ex. tended to Cape Colony, was now under consideration, but he declined to give any more information on the subject at present. Sir W. V. Harcourt refuses to grant time this session to discuss the Miners' Eight Hours Bill. The House of Commons, without dissent agree to the motion urging the Government to co-operate with the Great Powers in convening an international monetary conference. Sir W. V. Harcourt accepted the mqturn, as it did not indentify the Government with bi : nietalisin which he strongly opposed. ■■'■."■'• • ? Tho Times regrets that Sir W. V.
