The Hawke's Bay Poisoning Case.
(Per Press Association.) i\amkb. February 19. The Supreme Court has been occupied two days with the charge against John Restall of attempting to murder ten men at Patoka station. The evidence was purely circumstantial, and no adequate motive could be assigned. The theory of the Crown was that it was an act of revenge for the men informing the manager that he had taken whisky on the station contrary to the rules. The whisky was confiscated, and he was discharged, and Restall thought the men were iaughing at him, and resented it. The jury retired four hours ago, but as yet have been unable to agree.
