Not one New Plymouth member was returned at the late election. Mr Maxwell, of Opunake, was elected Chairman, and Mr Ward, nominee member, Treasurer, i hristchurch, February 19. Lady Wilson died at Cushiuere this morning. She was in India with her husbnnd, the late Sir Cracroft Wilson, during the Indian mutiny. Auckland, February 19. At an adjourned meeting of ladies after a lengthy discussion it was agreed to form an Association on lines outlined by Mrs F. Essey under the name of Slum and Drift Children's Friendly Society At the annual meeting of the Auckland Typographical Association the balance sheet Hhowed a total credit balance ol of £123. The Hon. W T Jennings M,L.(J was elected president for the current year. The meeting resolved to urge the Legislature to nmend the Shop Hours Act in the direction of removing all exemptions, and also including hotels under the provisions of the Act. Wellington, February 19. A child five yenr3 old Arthur Pollock, of Ohau. was found dead beside his j mother in bed yesterday.
