After a debate, extending over more than three sittings, during which there were some excellent speeches made on 4»oth sides of the question, Sir John Hall's Bill for extending to women the right to vote at parish meetings, for the election of parish officers, was lost, the voting being as follows :— Bishops, ayes 2, noes 5 ; clergy, ayes 4, noes 13 ; laity, ayes 13, noes 6. A Bill under the charge of Bishop Julius, providing that " every priest in sole charge of a parish or parochial district shall be styled * vicar,' and e*ery clergyman licensed to asist the vicar shall be styled * curate,' " passed its third reading, and was adopted without amend* ment. .^
