Gorton and Son's Horse Sale.

Messrs Gorton and Sou's special stock sale at Feilding yesterday attracted a large attendance, but there were very few buyers and the bidding was, consequently, without life. Dr Bennett's thoroughbred stock was all disposed of, with the exception of the racing mare Finesse, at prices in favor of purchasers. The draught horses entered by Messrs Hocking Bros., although of a very line class, did not find purchasers equal to the vendors' reserves and were passed in. The entries by other vendors were equally slow to sell, with the exception of three unbroken upstanding hacks, the property of Mr (r. Dear, of Awahuri, which realised £13 5s for a 4-year-old and .£'lo and £8 12s 6d respectively for two 3-year-olds. A serviceable aged hack realised £11 7s 6d. Other lines were disposed of privately after the sale. Dr Bennetts thoroughbred stock was disposed of as follows : — The gelding Besant was purchased for .£'lo by Messrs Gorton and Son ; Priscilla, by H. V. and W. Hammond, £14 10s ; Eve, by Mr E. Shortall, £15 15s ; the brood marc Revoke, with foal at foot by Flintlock, was purchased by Mr A. E. N. Hayne for £15 15s ; Provoke, by Mr J. Hathaway for £21 ; Finesse was passed in at £30. i
