The Temperance Party and the Sydney Bench.
(Per Press Association.) i Sydney, This Day. A deputation of the Temperance bodies waited on the Minister of Justice > to complain of the way the licensing | laws were administered. They alleged • that all the Stipendiary Magistrates | leaned towards the liquor party. The administration was a scandal and a disgrace, and the wonder was that the police ever attempted to enfofoe the Aot, seeing the attitude adopted by the Resident Magistrates. The Minister said he was unwilling to believe the charges against the Resident Magistrates. He was satisfied they did their duty conscientiously. The deputation misunderstood the position occupied by the Magistracy in asking for temperance appointments o,n the Bench.
