The Wool Market.

|Peb(hikss Association. I London, February 4. At the wool sales there was only a medium selection offered, and prices barelj T maintained. Man}' bales were j withdrawn. Mr Matheson. manager of the Feilding branch of the Colonial Bank, received by the 'Frisco mail the following report from the London branch of the Bank: — The sixth and concluding series of Colonial wool sales for this year which opened ou the 22nd of November, was brought to a close ou the 6th December. The available total was 189,000 bales, out of which about 145,000 were catalogued (including 28,000 bales New Zealand), of this total 128,000 bales were disposed of under the hammer, about 68,000 bales being taken for export, the United States taking 5300 of this total. The quantity held over until next series is about 62,000 bales, of which 47,000 had not been catalogued or offered in auctions. The attendance throughout has been large and after the hesitation of the first few days competition has been more brisk and general, but prices close for superior greasy and scoured merinos about par as compared with last auctions, medium greasy and scoured merinos 5 to 77} per cent decline, inferior low and faulty merinos 10 per cent decline, greasy crossbreds about 5 per cent 4'ecliue, dark, dingy and lqw cfesc'riptioiis of the same showing a much heavier dacline. The first series for 1895 will .commence on the 15th January, and all arrivals up to 4 p.m. on that date will be included.
