ENGLAND v. AUSTRALIA.
(Per Press Association.) Sydney, February 2. Shortly after midday rain fell heavily and the wind increased almost to a gale. The wicket was under water and there was no chance of the fourth test match being continued to-day. February 3. There was a big attendance on the ground yesterday, in anticipation of the resumption of the cricket match. A lot of rain fell during the night, and during the forenoon showers fell, and appearances generally were threatening. There was a heavy downpour just before noon, and the game was postponed until after luncheon hour. About one o'clock a gale set in, accompanied with a beating rain, and this sort of weather continued all the forenoon and night. Those in exposed positions were driven into the pavilions, where they waited until 2.30., when it was decided to postpone the game for the day. The wicket at times was partially submerged, but to-day a strong drying wind is blowing, with a strong sun, and if there is no more rain the pitch will be greatly improved by Monday.
