+ (Per Press Association.) Wellington, February 3. The residence and dairy of Tbos. Caeey of Wadestown was destroyed by fire It is supposed to have been caused by ft spark from a busb fire. The house and furniture was insured for £250. in the Commercial Union, and the dairy for £20 in the same office. At the inquest to-day on the body of the man Summers, of the yacht Pastime who was killed on Friday night through fulling down the hold of the hulk St. Kilda, a verdict of accidental death was returned and a rider added that hatches tthould be on at night while lying alongside the wharf. The Druids' Conference opens tomorrow. Delegates from Victoria and all parts of the colony will be present The delegates were entertained at a social last night and drove out to the suburbs this afternoon. Invercargill, February 2. The annual report of the Southland Frozen Meat Company states that the loss on the year's operations amounted to £16,579 which added to £3,101 brought forward from previous jear makes a debit balance of £17,080. The balance* sheet shows the overdraft to the Bank of New Zealand amounts to £12,246 while the total uncalled capital is £6102.
